Bio
Born in San Francisco, raised in a variety of states and countries, Serena spent many hours at the elbow of her father, artist Arvid Holmberg. That is where she fell in love with paint, form, color, and texture. It was magic in her eyes, and soon became her passion.
She took her first formal painting class at age 15 and self-taught herself until she enrolled in sculpting and life drawing classes in college. In 1995 she began painting glassware and founded Shatter Studio, selling her glassware in several Southern California locations including The American Crafter in Glendora, Bella Cosa in Claremont, the Pasadena Art Museum gift shop, and many art exhibits and street fairs.
In 2009 she refocused on her fine art and is currently doing daily creations. She has been commissioned for several custom works, and has expanded her medium to include clay, acrylics, oil, charcoal, and pencil.
Relocated in 2016 to Springfield, MO she is currently a member of the Springfield Regional Arts Council and donates artwork to several causes to help with art programs for children, and to help support animal rights and protection. When she is not creating art, she is donating her time to help with local art centers, and theatre houses.
"Im inspired by the human spirit and the beauty of our natural world. I want to share the world the way I see it; the unique poses, the depth of an expression on a face, the details that reflect the absolute perfection in the imperfection of our world. I hope to inspire others to slow down, and see." -Serena
